PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Renault-Nissan Alliance Engineering, Digital Vehicle Testing and Customer Performance

Expert Leader, Immersive Simulation & Virtual Reality
Establishment, implementation and management of Renault’s strategical roadmap in the domains of driving simulation and virtual reality as well Renault’s academic and industrial partnerships. Construction of a Renault-Oktal partnership allowing the Renault-Nissan deployment of the SCANeR simulation software product he has designed previously for autonomous and connected vehicle study and development.
Construction of Renault’s VR strategy in industry 4.0, including engineering design, virtual factory, sales, marketing and establish corresponding academic and industrial partnerships.

General Manager, Virtual Reality and Immersive Simulation Center
Andras Kemeny, Doctor ès Sciences (1983, Université Paris Est), is the Head of the Virtual Reality and Immersive Simulation Center of Renault-Nissan Alliance Engineering, Digital Vehicle Testing and Customer Performance Division and Director of the Laboratory of Immersive Visualization (LIV), a joint Renault - Arts et Métiers ParisTech research laboratory.
Dr. Kemeny has initiated and built the Technical Center for Simulation of Renault, a virtual design center for vehicle engineering in 2002 with the support of Renault’s Research and Development Executive Management. Its goal was to provide large simulation facilities for virtual vehicle engineering as well as its deployment in the various engineering departments such as vehicle equipment, architecture and perceived quality, driver aid systems as well as driver safety and ergonomics.
The center became the VR and Immersive Simulation Center in 2013 with a new, enlarged Virtual Engineering role in the framework of the creation of the new Renault Nissan Alliance Digital Vehicle Testing and Customer Performance division. Under Dr. Kemeny’s leadership new Virtual Engineering tools and methods were developed and deployed in cooperation with academic partners, suppliers and the company’s IT services with stronger links with Alliance PLM data and vehicle system development (Virtual Build, Virtual Experience CAVE-s, ADAS MMI, Autonomous and Connected Vehicle system testing in simulation).
Dr. Kemeny was previously Research Group manager at Thales Training and Simulation between 1984 and 1986 for real time visualization software development and Marketing Manager from 1986 to 1988 at Thomson Digital Image. He was European Function Coordinator for the PROMETHEUS (EU45) Eureka Project between 1989 and 1993 for inter-vehicle and road to vehicle communication systems at Renault Research Division.
He has also initiated and directed the development of a large driving simulation software package – SCANER© - worldwide leader in automotive R&D and is installed at a large number of facilities in Europe, North America, China, Japan and Korea.

Director of LIV
Direction and scientific administration of LIV (Laboratory of Immersive Visualization), a research laboratory between Arts & métiers Paris Tech and Renault in the field of virtual reality and immersive simulation.
Initiation and coordination of national research collaboration projects with other academic and industrial partners (VARI3 and SI2M), direction of PhD thesis, organization of scientific events (DSC), analysis and pre-testing of trends and future technologies to be used in industrial applications at Renault.
